Version Control Without the Complexity

Every time you upload a file to Handoff, it gets a version number. The first upload is v1, the next is v2, and so on. Simple as that.

Always Current, Always Accessible

Your file lives at a clean URL like handoff.host/@you/prototype. This URL always shows the latest version. But every previous version is still accessible:

• handoff.host/@you/prototype shows the latest (v3)
• handoff.host/@you/prototype/v/1 shows the original
• handoff.host/@you/prototype/v/2 shows the second version

No branching. No merging. No conflicts. Just a simple, linear history of every version you've uploaded.

Why This Matters

When you're sharing work with clients or teammates, version history solves real problems:

• "Can you go back to the previous version?" Just share the versioned URL.
• "When did this change?" Every version is timestamped.
• "Which version did I approve?" Bookmark the specific version URL.

How It Works Under the Hood

When you upload a file with the same slug, Handoff creates a new version and updates the "latest" pointer. The old file stays exactly where it is. Nothing is overwritten, nothing is deleted.

This means you can iterate freely. Upload as many versions as you want. Share the permanent URL with confidence that it always points to your latest work, while keeping a complete history for when you need to look back.
